Emerald Design System
ABN AMRO was shipping products across web and app with no shared foundation. Emerald became the single source of truth, connecting design and code across the entire organisation.
2018
Inconsistency at scale is expensive. ABN AMRO had multiple teams building interfaces independently, accumulating design debt and slowing delivery. The question was not whether to build a design system, but how to make it something teams would actually adopt and maintain.
Emerald was built as a living system: modular components with clear rules, documented in one central place, accessible to both design and development. The goal was not uniformity for its own sake. It was enabling teams to validate ideas fast in the first design diamond, and ship reliably in the second.

Role: UX Design / Methods: Design system architecture, component library, cross-team collaboration
The result: a unified brand experience across all digital touchpoints, reduced duplication, and a shared vocabulary between design and engineering.
ABN Amro
ABN AMRO's mobile teams were moving fast but in different directions. Via IceMobile I helped set a shared course: first with a five-day sprint that gave nine agile teams a common vision for mobile banking, then with a design system that gave them something consistent to build on.
